TECH1300 Information Systems in Business Case Study 2 Sample

Your Task

This assessment is to be completed individually. In this assessment, you will create a requirements specification plan using Agile requirement gathering techniques and UML modelling for a new online shopping platform that meets the specifications described in the case study.

Assessment Description

You have been hired as a consultant to design a set of IT project specifications for a new online shopping platform. The platform will allow customers to browse, select, and purchase items online, and will require the development of a database to manage inventory and orders. You will need to apply various IT modelling techniques to produce a requirements specification plan and create a use- case model and associated user stories of a sufficient calibre to be presented to various stakeholders.Your task will be to document and communicate the requirements to various stakeholders, including the development team.

Case Study:

You have been hired as a consultant to design a set of IT project specifications for a new online shopping platform called "ShopEZ". ShopEZ is an e-commerce platform that will allow customers to browse, select, and purchase items online. The platform will require the development of a database to manage inventory and orders, as well as integration with various payment and delivery systems.

The stakeholders for this project include the development team, the project sponsor, and the end- users (i.e., the customers). The project sponsor has set a strict deadline for the launch of the platform, and the development team is working in an Agile environment using Agile methodology.

• In this assessment, students must work individually to prepare report highlighting business requirements. The report structure is stated below:

1. Executive Summary

• Briefly tell me what this report is all about

2. Introduction of the case study

• Briefly introduce the case study (e.g., the platform / system you are going to develop)

3. Requirement gathering techniques used (at least 3)

4. Business requirements using Agile Methodology

• User stories (at least 8) and their acceptance criteria for each user story

5. UML diagrams

• Use Case diagram x 1

• Class diagram x 1

• Sequence diagram x 2 (Hint: choose any 2 use cases from the Use Case diagram for sequence diagrams)

6. Communication to the stakeholders

• Identify all stakeholders in this project and highlight the stakeholders who can approve / sign off the requirements.

• Briefly outline how you are going to communicate with each stakeholder about the requirements.

7. Reference

• At least 5 references in Kaplan Harvard style

• Please refer to the assessment marking guide to assist you in completing all the assessment criteria.

Solution

1. Introduction

The online shopping platform ShopEZ will be designed to manage inventory and orders. The e-commerce platform will also ensure flexible browsing, item selection, and online purchases. Specific requirements of the new online shopping platform ShopEZ have to be analyzed to manage integration with delivery systems and payment systems. Software development depends on requirement analysis (Efe & Demirors 2019). The project will be accomplished through developing user stories to create use cases for the UML diagrams. The agile methodology used in team development for the project will also help to assess how the stakeholders will support the project and maintain the effectiveness of ShopEZ. The UML diagrams will visualize the specifications for the new online shopping platform ShopEZ.

2. Requirement Gathering Techniques

The processes associated with requirement gathering will help to identify the ways of developing the online shopping platform ShopEZ.

• The user stories will be developed to assess the needs of end users of ShopEZ. The user stories will define the use cases, and the system design will be created using the use cases. UML diagrams will also be developed using the use cases. It will be an effective means of gathering requirements for the new online platform.

• The agile way of working helps to develop project teams (Gren, Goldman & Jacobsson 2020). The stakeholders associated with the project will also be engaged through agile ways of working. It will ensure collaboration among the team members and maintain interaction with the stakeholders. The requirements of stakeholders can be analyzed in this way.

• The customers are a priority in this project as the ShopEZ online shopping platform will be developed to improve customers' purchase experience. A survey method will be undertaken online to assess the customer needs. It will generate awareness about the customer requirements and improve diagrams to create an appropriate system for customer service for university assignment help.

3. Business requirements using Agile Methodology

The agile methodology helps to assess system specifications (Al-Saqqa, Sawalha & AbdelNabi 2020). The user stories will help to define the use cases and support the software development process based on business requirements and agile methodology.

3.1 User Stories

4. UML Diagrams

4.1 Use case diagram

4.2 Class diagram

4.3 Sequence diagrams

4.3.1 Cancel order

4.3.2 Track Order

5. Communication with The Stakeholders

The stakeholders of the ShopEZ online shopping platform development project are the development team, the project sponsor, the customers, and the administrator. The different stakeholders have specific roles. The project sponsor will help to fulfil business requirements such as financial resources required for the software development. The development team will be engaged in collecting resources to create the platform, and the administrator will control the system operations. The project team supports effective software development based on agile methods (Tam et al., 2020). The customers, however, will make the project successful through their approval.

• Development Team: The project development team engaged in the software creation for the ShopEZ platform will engage in generating awareness regarding the project requirements to the project sponsor through communication.

• Project Sponsor: The project sponsor will identify the needs of customers through a survey and input the customer needs into the business requirements. Active communication with the project development team will help to incorporate the business requirements.

• Customers: A survey to assess the customer needs will be conducted. It will help manage indirect communication between the project team and the customers. Communication among stakeholders helps to ensure project stakeholders (Derakhshan, Turner & Mancini 2019). The customers will also communicate their needs through the system.

• Administrator: The inventory and order requirements of customers will be communicated to the project sponsor. It will also help the project team to be aware of the services that customers require. The administrator will maintain effective control over the system.
