Other resources considered were the dental healthcare professional and social care services providers team and permission from the local authority to organise the camp and apparatus for conducting the dental health assessment. Further promotion through posters has been considered by me and a camp place community hall has been considered.

Goals Determined and Health Needs Identified

Dental health and reducing oral hygiene-related health concern has been significantly prioritised Government of Australia. Though there has been significant improvement in oral health in the past 25 to 30 years, and this improvement has been achieved as a result of adding fluoride to drinking water. However, still, there are certain factors leading to poor dental health hygiene and dental health issues that include the excessive cost of treatment and untreated decay in baby teeth of children. There is a need to increase awareness regarding sugar, alcohol and tobacco consumption and regular dental check-up to improve the situation (Australian Government, 2022). Considering the dental healthcare needs of the population of Australia, the goals decided by me are mentioned below.

? Increasing dental hygiene awareness and visits to local dental clinics by 5% within the next six months.

? The increasing tendency of people to regularly brush twice and flaw and consult with dentists in case of gum-related issues.

Based on current dental health statistics, I have decided the goals. The plan was to increase awareness of the population regarding oral hygiene behaviour; thus, health needs are addressed through the goals. My focus through this plan is to enhance the ability of the population to determine healthy dental hygiene maintenance behaviour and follow the behaviour for the long term to avoid major dental health consequences. Other areas prioritised by me include accessioning as much information and evidence as possible to include strategic changes in current measures applied for oral hygiene maintenance improvement among the population of Australia.

Planning Principles Considered

There are three core principles associated with planning, which I have followed while planning for the dental hygiene camps. These three principles of healthcare planning include equity, efficiency and effectiveness (Khashoggi & Murad, 2020). Equity signifies easy access to services without differentiating users based on social and economic background. Efficiency signifies delivering services that are specie to services users need, and effectiveness signifies the necessity of following an evidence-based approach. Based on the three principles value-based planning framework has been considered by me where not only the measures applied are prioritised, but also user satisfaction and experience are measured. Similarly, while organising the dental health camp, I not only measured the success of activities but monitored user satisfaction.

Reflection

This was my first experience in health and social care planning. I have faced problems and challenges while completing this planning, including lacking sight in the mission, lack of leadership, and problems in decision-making. I have considered three core planning principles, which have helped in decision-making cooperation while planning. Various challenges that I have faced are that it is not easy to understand or transferable for everyone to act every day properly. The major challenge I have witnessed was compliance with healthcare policies; thus, while organising the dental hygiene camp, I have focused on complying with local and national healthcare laws such as Dental Benefits Act 2008 and policies to avoid contradictions. However, this made the process long-term and complicated.

Another problem I faced was a lack of a skilled workforce. I have also faced challenges defining population healthcare needs assessment as I tried to cover all the koala dental service providers and access details manually, which consumes time. I understood that these issues could have been easily mitigated if I had considered the process to be online. Another alternative to selecting the community hall as a place of cam was designing the camp in any exiting the dental clinic where the inconvenience of shifting the moments would be low, and there would be an abundance of skilled professionals to assist.

Conclusion

Thus, this planning opportunity allowed me to understand the principles and approaches to be followed while designing a health facility of services. There is a need for maintaining coordination and collaboration within the team as well as the timely completion of the plan to assess any gaps in current plans and mitigate the gaps in the future.
